Audition
The Tellico Village Singers, a community chorus established in 2017, welcomes all interested singers from local and surrounding communities to audition. This is a private audition with the director and can be scheduled at a mutually agreed upon day and time. Acceptance into the choir is determined by the Director with results delivered in a prompt and timely manner. Among other factors in the audition, the Director will determine the intonation (matching pitch) and will pay special attention to vocal quality.
Requirements:
While the ability to read music is very helpful, it is not a requirement to audition. Rehearsal tapes for each part (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass) are available and are used by many singers. This will also build confidence in group and personal rehearsal time.
Rehearsal overview:
Rehearsals are scheduled on Monday afternoons, 2:20 PM to 4:30 PM throughout the concert season, in the Community Church at Tellico Village sanctuary. Rehearsal times/hours may be extended closer to concert dates. Although rehearsal attendance is VERY important, we also understand the need for personal vacations and visits to and with family and friends. For uniformity of sound and balance, tighter attendance requirements are in place in the immediate weeks prior to any concert. In the past, the Tellico Village Singers have usually taken several weeks off after the July concerts, reconvening in late August or September to prepare for our next March performances.
Concerts:
Currently, two to three concerts are held in early March, and at least two are scheduled for pre-Independence Day in July. The performances are accompanied by piano/keyboard, recorded instrumental accompaniment, and/or live professional instrumentalists.
